Luna has a long family tradition and began as a small, innovative project in a children's store, born out of a desire to provide healthy, natural food for our children.

The Success Story

Today, Luna is a successful medium-sized company. Our mission has always remained the same: healthy, homemade food made from fresh, wholesome ingredients of consistent quality. From the very beginning, our focus has been on vegetarian dishes.
1994

Founding - Luna Restaurant

Luna began as a small vegetarian bistro. Founder Rolf Hoppe offered his guests a healthy lunch menu, which laid the foundation for the catering business that would follow.

1995

First delivery to the kindergarten

Deliveries of fresh, healthy food to the Sonnenkinder preschool in Charlottenburg—where Rolf Hoppe’s own children were once cared for—are now being made using a cargo bike.

1996

Formation of the kitchen team

Rolf Hoppe has assembled a dedicated team of chefs who share his passion for fresh and healthy food to meet the growing demand for high-quality catering services for preschools.

1998

Start of school deliveries

The catering service expanded and began supplying a school for the first time, making fresh and nutritious meals a regular part of the school day.

2000

Relocation and direct purchase of regional and seasonal products

Following its move to the industrial park in Spandau, which offers good access to the city, the company is expanding its production capacity and is committed to sourcing seasonal products directly from regional producers.

Commitment to Quality, Employees, and the Environment

With a strong order book, the company is investing in quality assurance and employee development. At the same time, the implementation of modern practices—such as the CuC method and improved cooking techniques—is setting new standards for food quality.

2015

Start of the renovation of a historic building into a modern kitchen

Alongside production at the industrial park, renovation work is beginning on an old shipyard building—a historic structure—to transform it into a state-of-the-art kitchen capable of meeting the growing demands of the catering service.

2016

Planning and construction of an additional hall

At the same time, planning and construction will begin on a spacious production facility to expand capacity and increase the efficiency of food production.

Opening of the new location in the historic brick building

The company is relocating its headquarters to a historic brick building on the Ruhlebener Arm branch canal in order to blend tradition with modern needs and facilitate further growth.

2022

Family Succession: Lynn and Lucas Hoppe Join the Company

Lynn and Lucas Hoppe, Rolf Hoppe’s two oldest children, are joining the family business and bringing fresh ideas to help carry on the tradition and further develop their father’s vision.

2023

Sustainable Innovation

In 2023, the company will launch a pilot project for deliveries using electric vehicles in order to minimize CO2 emissions. In addition, the range of homemade products will be further expanded, with the proportion of organic products increased to over 90%, primarily sourced from the region.
